Stay a couple of days in Moab, from there you can day trip it to Arches national park ( 3 miles) Dead horse point state park (20 miles) and canyon lands national park (45 miles) all worth seeing more than once.

Canyonlands, Moab, Hwy 128 out of Moab is excellent.
On the other side of the state, Zion is a must-do.
You can dip south into Arizona briefly to see Monument Valley.
The list goes on and on!

I stayed here in Boulder Utah. It's right on highway 12, south of Torrey. The Llama's name is Stanley. No problem waking up because the rooster roams around the back. Price is right too!

"Simon" the cat came to my door every night too. When I opened the door he walked right in and hopped up on the bed. I gave him some pieces of cheese while we watched TV, then put him out when I went to bed. This was a "great" place to base out of for a couple days!

I'm a bit biased, since I live in southern Utah, but it is some of the best roads in the U.S. of A. Here's a few pics to wet your appetite ...

Zion National Park:

Just off Highway 89 near Marysville, UT ...

Fall in southern Utah just off Highway 14 between Cedar City and Duck Creek ...

A campsite outside of Beaver Utah on Highway 12 (about 7000 feet in elevation) ...

Highway 14 overlooking Kolob and Zion National Park ...

Let me know where you think you want to go or what you want to see. We've got everything from Alpine forest to coral pink sand dunes. You can go from 2500 feet in elevation in arid-desert to a snow covered ski resort in less than an hour's drive.

Oh yeah ... we got bears, elk, deer, cougars, and much more to see as well.

And just in case the first set of photos don't get your motor runnin'!

Here's a few more ...

Angel's Landing in Zion National Park (this is one scary hike up this bad boy!) ...

The Landscape Arch ... Devil's Garden (Arches NP) ...

Bryce Canyon ...

A lava field near Navajo Lake (Hiway 14) not far from Cedar City, UT ...

Along the Paiute Trail (runs the ridge of the mountains between I-15 and Highway 89 in central and south-central Utah ...

Thanks to everyone who replied!!

Great tips and advice which I'm sure I will use.

I think I'll start packing right now. . . who cares if it's a month and half away, right?

Thanks again

Stay here...just at the entrance to Zion NP.

And, don't miss Monument Valley if you can get there.

I'm planning a trip from Denver into Utah for early June. Moab, Canyonlands, Arches, Natural Bridges, Moki Dugway, Valley of the Gods, Monument Valley. Can't wait.
