Question Brand Name Gas?

OK, I know the drill we need 91 octane.

Have any of you noticed any difference in performance and miles per gallon with different name brands such as Shell, BP or Kwik Trip?

I try to only put BP in my tank (the high octane stuff). There are a few stations around here that the gas must be watered down, because performance suffers.

It all comes from the same refineries regardless of brand. The only difference is the additives that they add to the gasoline before they take it out to the different stations.

Occasionally I'll have a fill that seems to run worse than normal (lack of power, poor MPG), I don't think these are octane related. (Happens in vehicles that run fine on 87).
There are stations in my area that I won't use. In unfamiliar territory I try and stick with BP, Shell or other familiar brands.

Always used Sunoco 94 in Ohio. However Vegas doesn't have that. I try to stick with Shell hi octane.

Mine seems the same across the board.

It does not matter. Gasoline is manufactured to a specific specification. The one thing I try to avoid if at all possible is ethanol. That will give you about a 10% hit on fuel economy.

While it's true most fuel "should" leave the refinery the same. I know they don't always come out of all pumps the same.

Thanks for the info so far.
