So, has anyone actually used this form a funnel? If so, does it work with an Ultra with lowers?

I ordered both the "form-a-funnel" as well as the one from Ernst;

http://www.ernstmfg.com/products_oilfunnel.php

The "form-a-funnel" does what it says it can do, but the problem is that it cannot conform to the angles required to drain the oil properly on my 08 RK.

On the other hand, the Ernst product does a very good job of minimizing oil dripping. As directed by the instructions, I punch a hole in the filter at the 6 o'clock position, while the Ernst funnel is in place, and allow as much oil to drain from the filter. I then unscrew the filter and take it and the funnel out together. There is some dripping, by very little.

Hope this helps.

I don't know what all the fuss is about really. I pull the filter off quickly, get a rag in there and do a wipe up, go underneath with a few paper towels and "wipe up" and get my fingers in there......Done. (sort of)

Bike sits on a nice rug I bought for the gee-rage so I don't have a cold butt when I tinker with it. I DO put a few paper towels back down underneath over night and usually do get a few extra drips by the next day. I then get back under there and wipe again one more time in the "crannies" and that does it. ....

Hey, years ago if we didnt see oil on the ground we thought something was wrong!!
Oh crap I must be out of oil! The bike aint leaking any more!

I spend alot of money on some stupid stuff but I'm not spending money on a funnel.

I use a funnel buddy for all three holes and never spill a drop. You can find them at summit or jegs.

I read a tip somewhere on this forum here about removing the regulator before changing your oil. On my '09 Ultra it is only 2 nuts and comes off quickly. I just let it hang off to the side and it gives you tons more room for your foil, soda bottle, etc.

I tried it on the last oil change and believe it was well worth the couple minutes to remove it.
Then I put a tinfoil funnel up under the filter, poke a couple holes in the end, and let it drain out the front between the frame.

Take care,
Dave
