Stage 1 download with stock AC and mufflers?

I agree with PastorJohn that I think you would be better off in the long run with a fuel management system. The new power commander 5 seems real good. It's smaller and much more adjustable. It would take you long down the road with any future upgrades and Fuelmoto is a great outfit to deal with. My 2 cents worth. Good luck!

. This Is just what I wanted to know as I'm looking to do minor upgrades and nothing more just want to reduce the heat and improve the sound.

I have only changed the slip-ons and added Xieds to my RK. It runs fine and sounds great. A recent article that was posted in the touring section shows the stock AC on the 103HO flows as much air as the motor can use. If I change the AC, it would be to get the benefit of a reusable filter element and better crankcase breathing to keep oil out of the throttle body. I imagine at some point if I change the headpipe, I will also opt for a flash tuner to maximize performance.
I said all that, just so I could include a link that sheds some light on the Stage 1...

A Stage One Download is not a very cost effective ( and effective tune wise ) method. For what you'll spend on it ( and the cost will vary between dealers with some even charging a service on top of the $150.00 average price ) you be dollars ahead with a "tuner". A Power Vision will offer tons of advantages that will last the life of the scooter and can be migrated to a new scooter for a re-licensing fee. Also note that NOT ALL H.D. Downloads increase the rev limiter on the baggers ( this has been argued and I can tell you from first hand experience that it is true ) although most of these scooters run out of grunt ( even with most bolt on accessories ) long before the 6.200 rpm limit.

I think it also changes the timing curve a little but the bottom line is that it is still EPA compliant.
