Default Dragging front brake pads??

Does/have anyone else had their front brake pads drag slighlty while riding? I have noticed it lately and have had it a while but when I just slightly touch the front brake it will stop. Is this common among dressers? I have an 04 EGC. Comments and opinions!?!?!

My '05 EGC does the same, it's irritating as #@$$. The shop manual says up tp 0.008" or 0.009" of runout in the disc is O.K. so I'll wait until I have the extra $ to replace the disc. I've also been told that the '05 disc (and maybe other years) are too close to minimum thickness to be trued, BUMMER!

Had the same problem. You need to get a spray can of brake cleaner, take the pads out, clean around the pistons as best as you can. I stuck a gasket scraper in the calipers and pumped the pistons out farther than they normally travel and blasted the chit out of them with the brake cleaner. (Opening the bleed ports helps to reseat them, careful you don't spray fluid everywhere) Clean the pad pins (I used 00 steel wool) and lube them with anti-seize. Put it all back together and top off the fluid (this is also a good time to change out the brake fluid) and bleed them. Barring other unforseen problems (warped rotor etc), you should find most of the drag will be gone. All disc brakes drag a little, but you shouldn't be able to hear it on the road. Before you start, make sure you have a 1/4" twelve point socket for the pad pins. I wound up running to Sears to get one after removing the caliper.

Good luck.

The only thing I will add to Chip's advice is also check clearance of the pads in the caliper. I have had a couple of bikes where crud builds up around the pads so they don't properly retract after applying the brakes, even if the pistons do.
