I bet you're gonna' be ok. Not tryin' to get a big thing going here but I'm curious what brand oil filter fell off ? You might want to do two back to back oil changes though if you are worried about metal filings floating around.

Another thing, they always say hand tighten 1/2-3/4 turn after the gasket contacts & don't use a wrench to tighten. Well I've seldom been able to get that out of a filter by hand & I've been known to use a strap type to get her done. It may be techniquely wrong but I err to a tighter fit.

At any rate the "Big Twin" gods have shown you mercy & I'm sure you are a more religious man today.

wow thats a scary story. i have never heard of a oil filter just comming off before. strange that it unscrewed itsself also. i am wondering if someone was messing with you. i had a gasket stick to a new motor once. i dropped the old filter and put the new one and knew there was a problem immedatly!! and that was with 2 gaskets not sealing completly. no oil filter on the adapter must have really caught you attention!! hope your motor is ok.

Thumbs up

Thanks to all for the concern ,started today again pressure up to32psi no weird noises, will take her out if it stops raining and run her a little.Still weird how it just came off without warning after 2600 miles.Bike sits in garage covered, not a drop of oil anywhere,it has a motion sensor on it would have thought i'd heard it even after its set off it lets you know its tripped....not a peep so I think it was just one of those things.Kinda funny I was thinking just before all He@@ broke loose that any day riding is better than a day at work....Guess I stand CORRECTED....thanks guys...Later Dave.
