Default '09 Street Glide - I'm too short!

First off I love my Street Glide. It is the best bike I've owned.

Now it's time to customise and get more comfy....

I'm 5'7" or so. 28" in-seam....and apparently short arms.

I am on my tip-toes on the bike. The seat position has me reaching for the bars too. What I think I need is to sit 2" closer and 1" lower. I can deal with the height - platform boots will do fine. But what should I do to get closer to the bars? Seat or pullback bars? Opinions?!?

Platform boots? your kidding right?

Try a different seat 1st - Corbin, LePera, C&C (have it custom cut) - 2" lower for 1/4 the price of dropping the entire bike. I have a friend who rode an Electra Standard; he is 5' 6 1/2"

I'm 5'8" I bought a C&C Fastback seat and that took care of me. Its not that the bike is tall. Its the width of the frame and the front of the stack seat. This seat is narrower and lower. My elbows are bent reaching for the bars.

West Coast Shoe logger Boots and send to the seat to mean city cycle first then go from there. Alan knows exactly what to do to your seat. I did that and skipped changing the handle bars.

I am 5'6" 27.5 inseam.

I had the same problem with my 09 EGS. I had the front and back lowered 1" and put a HD Reach seat on and it is now perfect.

I would try the Reach seat first might be just what you need with out lowering the bike.

The seat lowered me about an inch and moved me forward about the same, not to mention for me it is a very comfortable seat and my girl loves it too.

Hope this helps.

Edited to add I almost exactly the same size as you.

Try the Corbin Classic Solo Close Reach seat. That'll get you lower and further forward. And (even thow it's very firm to the touch) much more comfortable for the long rides.

I have read good reviews of Mean City Cycles. They will take your stock seat and lower it while making it alot more comfortable. I have not done this yet, but may in the future. I believe that they are also a sponsor on this board.

I would recommend Corbin seat in the close version. It will set you lower and about 2" closer to bars or change bars to Khrome Werks Sweepers +2 and the regular Corbin seat.

I'd send the seat to BadX at Mean City Cycles and let him perform his magic.

Default 09 Street Glide top heavy

I am 6'3" and think I will try Progressive's lowering front springs and air dragger air shocks that will lower the bike up to 2". Mine rides nice but at u turns and very slow speed feels like I am going to drop it and I ridden HD's since 1974 and have a 07 CVO Dyna.
