I use disk lock and Master cable lock to lock the frame to other bike or pole.

+1 on insurance. I was in Orlando a few weeks ago and this guy had is RK in the back of his truck all tied down. The next morning at a nice hotel in a good area the bike was notably missing from the back of the truck.

IMO it is better to chain the bike or at the very least parked near where lots of people can see it - front of hotel or under a security camera. Nothing is a perfect deterrent, but at least good insurance will help pay for a new bike.

Two things that thieves DO NOT want to do. Make a lot of noise, and take too long. Any device you use can be defeated, but if looks to a thief like a long deal in a well lighted place while making a hell of a lot of racket, they will most likely opt to go in search of easier prey. I use and Abus U-lock and 1/4" thick heat treated chain. If I can't chain the bike to a stationary object, I just chain the back wheel to the frame. An Electra Glide is not the type of bike anyone in a hurry wants to try to pick up.

On mine I will only park in well lit, busy area. Normally near other bikes when possible. When at a hotel while on the road, if I cant park the bike within proximate view from the room (request ground floor), I will put up front by lobby under canopy. Most decent hotels will allow this.
I also have a coated cable and integrated lock that goes around wheel and frame.
Lock forks, set alarm, install cable lock, cover. If this bike can be picked up and put into a truck...you are going to need a fork-lift!!

So far this has worked for me. I am more worried about some idiot pulling parts off. I liked the thread regarding detachable bag theft I read a while back. I have installed some hardware that makes it MUCH more difficult and time consuming to remove the side bags because if this site.
Ditto !
My Mom worked the Front Desk at a Motel on the Interstate Highway. If she knew you were on a bike...you automatically got a room on the second floor. I asked her why? Seems some guys with oil leaks took their scoots into the room and ruined the carpet. So, I try to park where the front office can't see me, and try NOT to look like I've been riding my scoot all day....but that is hard to do.
