Here is what the Road Captain told me. These directions are from Hampton Roads Harley Davidson.

Head north on 17 to route 14 where we will cross over via 33 back on route 14 riding through King and Queen county to 360 where we will head to Tappahannock for lunch at Lowery's restaurant. That part of Route 14 is a scenic by-way with lots of easy curves and turns. After lunch we will ride over to Warsaw to pick up Route 3 for the ride back down the northern neck.

Sounds like a very nice ride.

From what I have been able to discern the "little Dragon" is Rt 14 (Buena Vista Rd.) starting from Rt 17 until it comes out on Rt 360. I noticed it's also called "the trail" on Google maps.

Ride Safe

Yes indeed. Those roads wind through the middle penninsula along the "little dragon", a series of interconnected small rivers. I think there is a couple of turnoffs where you can get to the river to do whatever.

You will have to report back to this post with an update after the ride. It's not far from the Richmond area where I live.

Thanks for the route description. Will have to give it a look one of these days.

Buddy and I happened onto "Jeb Stewart" highway. It's just west of Galax Virginia. Don't what the speed limit but at 55mph the curves were perfectly spaced. Just as soon as my King came up from one corner another in the opposite direction was there to be mastered. It was an awesome ride. We're doing it again East to West later this Spring. Some roads are meant to be ridden.

As to the "Dragon", before it was famous it was the road dad used to take us kids to the swimming hole. All of the roads in and around East Tennessee were dug into the mountains. Then came new wider straighter roads. Progress isn't always a better way of life, IMHO.

A Lot of the sport bike riders in the area refer to Rt 211 between Luray VA and Sperryville VA.
