A name or route would be a big help...i can think of a several roads that might fit the name but none have that name.

Well, Tappahannock is in the Tidewater, adjacent to the Rappahannock River. Pretty country, but very flat. Although I'm sure there are some pleasant country roads in the area, I'd be very, very surprised to hear that there's a truly curvy road anywhere near there which would warrant a "Dragon" tag.

Nothing would please me more than to be proved wrong, though. I ride down on the Northern Neck not too far from there and would love to hear of a terrific road down there.

Let us know the details once you talk to your riding buddies...

Smile The Little Dragon

It might be RT. 14 from Shackfords to 360. I rode it and it has some great curves.

Wink

Quote from Northern Neck Audubon Society:
The Dragon Run, one of the most pristine rivers on the east coast. The Dragon, on the Middle Peninsula, runs 35 miles from its source to the Piankatank River and is bordered by Essex, King & Queen, Middlesex and Gloucester Counties. It is one of the northern-most cypress / tupelo swamps and has been described as a time capsule of a Chesapeake Bay tributary river from 100 years ago and a river similar to one Captain John Smith would have seen 400 years ago. The remoteness of this million year old swamp contributes to its abundant wildlife and unique plant species.

Perhaps your HOG chapter will be doing some bird watching on the river?
Better bring your binocullars.

I've ridden it dozens of times. It is a really nice climb.

To the top - Need to know the area a little more since I'd like to try the road out someday. Once someone provides information here as I'll be sure to jot 'em down in my trip book.

Thanks,

Thorey
