Default SG 2007 vs 2009?

I have a 2007 SG which has a few upgrades that unfortunately cannot change over to the 09. D&D FatCat, Lyndall Rotor, Custom Seat, etc. . .
The trade-in difference is about $5,000 OTD. My question is, IYO, is the new frame set-up, ABS and wheel size change worth 5k?
Not to mention the cash I'll spend changing out a few necessary mod's, exhaust, tuner, seat, etc. . .

Thanks!

I ride a 2007 EGC & brother has a 2007 SG.

I test rode a 2009 Ultra about a month ago. One of the first things I did when I got home was call his cell phone and did my best imitation of "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou" by going "Do Not test ride the 2009 H-D touring bikes".

If I could afford the hit, I do believe I'd be trading up. But I can't, so I ain't.

I just made the switch. '07 Street Glide to a '09 Street Glide.

Holy Cow what a difference!!! I am SO glad I made the switch, the bike is completely different. It was delivered on Sat and I already have 500 miles on it. I can not say enough about it.

The ABS will give you a better chance at saving your bacon if you have to make a emergency stop. If you can afford the upgrade to the 2009, do it.

You are correct, if you decide to put the likes of exhaust, tuning, seat, chrome front forks, little doo-dahs here and there you will be out of pocket about $3-5K. So add that to your $5K and you are looking at a minimum of $8K. I'm like you, that is a hard pill to swallow, especially during these times.

I wouldnt trade in a two year old bike. What happens when the 2010 come out with something better? Every year brings changes and unless you are trying to impress someone enjoy the bike you have.

I bought a 2009, but sold a 2001 softail. I notice a lot of differences compared to my Dads 08 ultra. But it isnt worth that swing I dont think. I decided it was worth it to buy a new 09 compared to a almost new 07-08, but thats much different.

Wait for the 10's to come out. At this point it's only a few months. But the '09's are very nice and a big improvement. Can't wait to see what's next.

Here are two older threads from www1flyinggrace who had an 07 SG and bought an 09. They are well written and perhaps can help you make a decision. Although I loved my RK after reading these postings I had no choice but to step up to an 09 SG.
