I'd trade my '08 in a heartbeat, for an '09 with $5,000 difference. I'm trying never to test ride an '09 (LOL) but I know I will this summer and a '10 model is probably in my future.

I bought an 07 SG knowing full well each new year would bring improvements, especially since the 07 was the first year of the 96/6sp combo.

I'd also resolved myself to riding it for at least 5 years before even considering trading it in. While I'd like to have some of the new features of the 09's, I'm sticking to my plan.

Imagine the advancements/improvements I'll get when I do finally trade in 2012 (if the world doesn't end, that is =).

If you have the cash and don't mind taking the hit, then it's a no brainer. But it is a lot of cash.

I just did it, could not be happier. That first corner I was like,,, wow!

Took a hit but it was under $4K, but then of course I had to add stuff that would not switch over. Plus a few things I "needed" ;-)

Well I went from an 02 RKC to a 09 SG for the ABS. However I am becoming more in aw of the handling. I didn’t really notice it at first, but the more I ride, the more I see how much better this bike turns, both at slow and high speeds. In fact I’m still trying to get comfortable with it a slow speeds because it turns so much easier. I know that sounds funny but I find myself making tighter turns than I anticipated.

Answering your question, I would wait until the 2010s come out because they will put some good discounts on the 09s.

It's your call. I like my '07. I know full well the '09 has a better chassis. I like the Yellow Pearl color of the '07, plus the throttle cables. I came from a carb to FI, so it is a big leap for me. I am in the process of gathering pieces to convert from '07 rear wheel to '09 180. I have take offs from an '09.

like computers, the next big thing is always right around the corner. chasing the latest and greatest will never end.

but the SEED has already been planted in your mind that you NEED an '09. just a matter of your willpower (and checkbook now).

NOTE: there are many unfortunate souls who can only dream of owning/riding a Harley. You're already living the dream. Now go out for a spin and rekindle that love affair with your bike

I'd hold off since you love your current bike. You'll be out more $$$ trying to customize it.
