Default How Hot Is Too Hot?

Since this seems to be the hot topic right now I have a question. LOL

Jamie said that the EITMS kicks in at 287 I think, so if it does kick in and you are still stuck in traffic how hot will the engine get?

And what temps will damage the engine, is say 325 so hot it will damage something?

Thanks

I would think 280-300 would be getting hot. Not sure what if any damage would be caused at 325. 325 would definitely make me nervous.

I have seen my oil get up to 290 and wear metals remained normal in UOA.

Important not to lose sight that the #1 thing that cares about oil temp is the OIL. The oil will have definite shorter life at higher temps - at to high a temp you will degrade the oil-this in turns damages the lubricated parts.
What's to high? - see specific oil temp specs.

350 is getting up there, but not really damaging. Tack on 100 and the valve seats will likely fall out.
