Ever tried feathering the clutch when trying to find neutral ?

Some things you only need to do once. Darn thing almost jumped out from under me.

Maybe it's because the MSF class is still relative fresh in my mind (took it 2 years ago), but I always start with the bike in neutral, clutch pulled in, and front brake on. Two other things that stuck with me "the N indicator only guarantees that the light bulb works" and "you don't park your car/truck in N with no brake set, why would you park your bike that way? Put it in gear when you park it." To each, his own, but it was so firmly ingrained in my head then, I just made it habit.

I have been riding for 4 decades and the only way I can reliably find neutral is with my hand.
