Cycle Visions Eliminator

Cycle Visions Eliminator
There have been a few posts recently from people inquiring about the Cycle Visions Eliminator tail light. I replied stating I had the tail light on my bike it its awful. It can’t be seen during the day. A few people PM’ed me asking for pictures. I didn’t have any. I took a few today and decided to post them so everyone can see how lousy this tail light is. The tail light was on my bike when I bought it. I’m removing it tomorrow and installing a standard HD tail light and turn signal bar.
Running light from 15 feet away – yeah, it’s lit
Running light close up
Brake light from 15 feet away – tough to see and it’s a very overcast day
Brake light close up
This tail light is sold for $359.95. I highly recommend it if you want to be rear-ended, otherwise I’d look at other tail light options if you are in the market for a new light.

I didn't buy the light. It was already on the bike when I bought it. The prior owner installed it along with the bag lights. The bag lights look cool but are not very bright either. The tail light nor the bag lights are DOT approved - for obvious reasons.

Wow those lights suck!! I wanted to buy the eliminator and just emailed them today to see if they had some pics with the lights on during the night and during the day. I have a feeling their going to say they don't have any. Because who in their right mind would want to buy it with lights that look like that. Guess I'll have to think of something else. I just do not like the way the stock configuration looks on my bike.

I guess we all have our own oppinion's but I need to disagree with you all. I've run a few Eliminator's and since there redisign about 6 months ago, they are plenty bright enough. The older one's I founmd out that you need to run them with some type of Run/Brake/turn module (Badlands) to get the most out of them. Now, everything is intergrated into the unit itself. Another nice feature now is when you hit the brakes, the entire unit flashes brightly five times before it goes solid. I did have a problem however installing it on my '09. Evedintly HD eliminated one of the ground wire's in the harness and after I pluged in CycleVisions provided jumper (this jumper is to connect the load equilizer) the unit was dimmed. I called Cyclevision and they just became aware of this problem and I had not only a new jumper on my porch two days later, but a whole entire unit just in case. I replaced the jumper and the unit "fired" right up. There customer service is outstanding.
My take is this. If you use your bike for an everyday ride, and you rack up a ton of mile's, I'd stick with the stock set up (with a run/turn/brake module) But if looks (and I do think they're pretty sharp looking, each to there own I guess) are important, and if you don't put very many miles on your scoot (as I don't) I think it's more then adaquite enough......That's my take...................Putt
