Default 2009 SG seat seems loose at the tank.

I am just wondering if it is right for my seat to be able to move left and right at the tank? It is tight and won't slide and the tab in the front is in just seems to have a little too much play like 1/2" either way. It is making some marks on the tank under the seat to.

Doesn't sound right to me. I would take it off and make sure that the slot for mounting at the front is not elongated. Mine doesn't have any side to side movement.

mine did that to I had the tech look at and they confirmed it was in place, said that the 09 were built w/ a little play in them, unsure as why. I put several hundred miles on mine with no problem, than I switched to a sundowner, no movement and much more comfortable for me and the wife.

Well mine doesn't feel loose, but I took it off with 37 miles and noticed the same rubbing on the tank. I kind of just felt it was my legs pushing down on the seat causing it. I also noticed a start of a rubbing on the finder at the back of the seat, so I layed a few small strips of packing tape where the seat touches the tank and fender.

I went home and checked, yep my seat is doing the same thing. I'm not sure what to do yet. I actually like this seat. I rode an hour and half the other day and felt great. My RKC seat wasn't near as comfortable. I am considering getting a Road Glide seat for two up riding, but not single. Hmmm.

Mine does same thing. When at dealer the other day, checked a few others and none of the other 09's did it. Problem is they didn't have any street glides to check. Dealer said didn't sound right and bring it in and have checked at 1,000 mile service.

Problem is I plan on sending bike out to Mean City for work on it and wonder if they will then blame on work done on seat rather than fix darn thing., if it is fixable.

Mine has a little play in it too, I noticed it the first time I got on it.
Going to have to fix that.

You and I will get along fine, I like solving problems. Let us know what you figure out.
