"Heritage Style" handlebar on RKC - An Oberservation
#161
OK, so I pulled the bars back as described above. It didn't work out though - I got a pain and stiffness in my right shoulder similar to the way it felt with the stock RK bars. My right hand position on the throttle also felt a little uncomfortable. I rotated them back forward to where they were before, which is still a little towards me as opposed to in line with the forks. I will keep them in this position, but some mild apes may be in store for the future (12.5 or 14 inch). Thanks again for all the information.

I have the bars on my '11 RKC. I started out with the bars following the forks. I liked the height of them but the wrist angle was flat out terrible! I lowered the bars to me quit a bit and now they are comfortable, the only problem is, i can't get past they way they look. I cant stand it! I am now saving up for apes.

Installed the Heritage bars (56623-99) on my 2002 Road King. Big improvement over the beach bars that were installed by the previous owner. I'm about 5'9 and reach is not an issue with these bars adjusted in line with the forks. I haven't ridden it much yet so I'm not sure about the wrist angle but so far the short rides have been positive. I included a picture of the Harley bar-code label if it helps anyone.

I purchased this handlebar (#56902-08) a few months back. Installed them, and uninstalled them the same day. I love the height (kinda like a mini-mini ape), but I absolutely HATE the wrist angle. I have to twist my wrists outward to gain a firm grip. I prefer being able to keep my wrists straight, like I can with the stock bars.
I really haven't seen these same comments from others regarding the Heritage Style bars. Seems that everyone really likes them... So has anyone else noticed the weird wrist angle, or am I truly the only one?\
Also, is there anyway to "bend" the bars to adjust the wrist angle?? Or are there any other bars out there that are otherwise identicle to them, except for the wrist angle? I'm looking at the Wild1 Chubby 513 Baby Apes, but they're $220.

As far as the Chubby 1 513's I felt they were too much money to try out and hope for a good fit. The Heritage bars I would say are similar (Baby Apes) to the 513's for much less money. My bike had Beach Bars installed when I bought it, so I would consider the Heritage Bars as a "Gateway Bar" to taller Apes without breaking the bank since they don't require cable replacements.
