I adjusted my handlebars on the FLHR. When I fist had the bars changed to the Heritage bars I knew something was wrong because i slid back on my seat. I adjusted them up more in line with the front end and WoW! they are amazing now. I can't imagine how I rode the bike before. I knew there was going to be problems when the mechanic putting the bars on the bike was only 5'2"!

I would like to go with baby apes because I like the look but I can ride all day with the reduced reach bars with no wrist or back pain so I am hesitant to change.

Was out shopping today (If I can just make up my mind between a RKC and a RK....) and my local dealer had a bike set up with the Reach seat and the Heritage Style bars. It was just before closing, so I coudn't pull it out for a ride, but I sat the bike and the combination was nice. Compared it to the stock bike next to it. Based on what I saw at the dealer and what you all have commented on I'll be swapping bars before I leave the dealer....if I can ever make up my mind and get over beign cheap, lol.

EDITED 4/4

Left the dealer with a brand new vivid black RK standard on Friday. Thanks for the pointers and insights in this forum! Heritage bars are on order.

Nope, when you use these particular bars you don't need anything else

I also had the Heritage style bars on my 012 RKC they where actually pretty comfortable, but I really had to pull them back. When locking handlebars they would almost hit my speedo housing. Purchased and installed RK high bars, fit for me is much better, another thing I noticed is that since the high bars are not pulled back I can actually use the heel toe shifter without my leg hitting my arm.

I have the stock bars on my 2012 RKC. It is ok, all I need is about 2" to 3" closer to me. I am 6'3. I do not have any shoulder discomfort or anything, it just seems that it would just be a little more comfort. Any ideas?
