I do not want to hijack this thread, but I am curious as to what you pay for your personalized plate. Here in Mass. it is initially $20. for the issue fee, plus $50. for the Special Plate fee, then $45.00 a year there after and we are only allowed 5 spaces. Not a whole lot to work with. I have had the same tag SOOS on my cage since '75 at about $73.00 a year.

 

Ohio is $35.00 per year additional for "vanity" plates.

The plate if I remember right is about $35.00 extra above the cost of your tags a year but tags are high here in California. Mine were $233.00 on the new SG and $45.00 to order the plate and the State is getting ready to double DMV tags due to the buget crisis here in this communist state. YES that means $466.00 next year give or take if they make the changes purposed.

I think it cost me $123 to license my 2007 Road King when I bought it new. That is a one time fee, a permenant license plate. By the way, my plate HAAWG...

If you are ex-military (I'm retired Navy) personalized plates are free in Missouri. The registration fee still aplies, $24.50 for two years. But the plates are free. I got an old submarine hull number SS-199.
