Default dark and deer

darn daylight savings time has put me back into the dark for coming to work. a deer hit me in the front left and broke the lower fairing, spun the highway peg straight back, bent the crash bar, bent the spot light, bent the saddlebag frame, unlatched the saddlebag, and left hair all down it. deer was a good size buck, now deader than ****. i'm okay but a little upset - about the bike. other than the plastic lower i may not have to replace anything (presumable pretty expensive stuff) but then i get to have bent stuff as a reminder. i didn't even see it until it was hitting me so it wasn't a matter of avoiding it. you all be careful and hang on.

Glad to hear your ok. Last year about this time there was a guy in my city who struck a deer on his low rider and died.

Wow Rem, glad you're okay. It could have been much worse! Bent stuff can be replaced.

That sounds scary; glad you are OK. Sounds like you were going at a lower speed which is very fortunate!

it was on a state highway and i was actually probably going about 55mph. one good thing is that the new ultras are sooo heavy and my new seat gives me a lower center of gravity which both probably helped.

thanks,

Every year, we get fatalities from people riding motorcycles and hitting deer. After dark, my bikes stay home. It's not worth risking my life to save a few bucks on gas.

Glad to hear you are OK. The gvt. needs to do something about the deer explosion. Hope you get your bike fixed soon.
