Default will these wheels fit and which tire size do i need?

bike is a 06 road king custom flhrs. im buying a rear 18x 4.25 rim and front 21x 3.25 rim with a new fender. both are spoked wheels.. First question will they both fit without any other serious mods and what size tire will i need? preferbly would like avon or metzler.

I just bough the same for my bike and yes those are the right size rims. I went with the metzler tires due to the fact they dont expand when hot. Less of a chance for the fender to rub.

Same wheel sizes on my FLHX. Metzler 880 tires 160/60/18 & 120/70/21. Don't know if the fitment on a RK is the same.

I'm also thinking about buying a 21/18 combo for my FLHX. It's a '08 model. What year is yours, because I like the idea of having a 160 tire on the rear.
By the way: What's wrong with a 21/16 combo?
Thanks for advise!

For all 2004-2008 Baggers that are running a 21 + 18" combination we usually recommend a 120/70-21 for the front and a 150/70-18 for the rear. We have had some customers put a 160/60-18 rear Metzler on but almost 50% of those who tried it complain about a wobble at higher speeds so the results seem to vary on the 160 whereas most like the 150. The 16" rear is a good option for those who want the rear end as low to the ground as possible. Avon are good tires as well but I would give the slight edge to the Metzlers. The 21 + 18" combinations usually bolt right up but you need to check the front fender clearance on the front 21" tires. We usually recommend to drill out the fender bolt holes to 3/8" and raise the *** end of the front fender up a little to gain extra clearance.

You also need to consider what size bearings you need. I am pretty certain that you have 1" bearings on that year model. Those wheels should be fine with wheel sizes listed above.

go with the 150 on the rear, the 160 may or may not cause a high speed wobble -- I had two 160's one wobbled one did not.

150 never wobbled, on the 160 I had to trim the belt guard.

this was on a 07 SG and 08 RG.

I've checked the tire specs and found out that 150 and 160 series ME880 are different patterns. The 160 is a radial tire while the 150 is a diagonal pattern. This might cause the wobble because the 21" front tire is a diagonal tire as well.
