Sounds like air in the lines. The brakes on my Ultra w/ABS are fine, not overly-touchy, but firm, and instantaneous.

The brakes are like this on three new bikes(09's) that two of my friends have and mine. When you ride down the road this does not happen only sitting still with engine off. I can't imagine all these bikes have this serious of a brake concern with no tsb's or recalls? I feel they operate normal but time will tell!

update:
cured! i did 2 things. removed the pads and made sure the pistons were not hanging up , then.... bled the brakes numerous times (via a mityvac and the conventional way). after a lot of screwing around, it feels fine now.

mine is the same way on my 09 ultra and wondered if was normal or something wrong. felt as if needed to bleed it. Guess will get to a dealer and make them do it....

I'd say there's something wrong with them as mine are very firm. And ABS does not affect brake feel as when it's inactive the brakes function just like non-ABS brakes.

Sounds like yours need to be bled.

I love the ABS so far in mine. I have practiced emergency stops so I can tell how it feels in case I ever really need it. Smooth and almost too assuring. Took some time to get used to the feeling. Almost thought the bike was coming out of gear by the noise it makes.

You hit my front breaks you better hang on you are going to stop. I will suggest that you stay off the front break when you are coming to a stop. I almost dumped mine twice before I kept my hand off of them.
