abs on an 09 ultra

I remember this issue coming up on threads about a year ago. The fix is to have a competent dealer tech, if you can find one, bleed the brakes using their nifty little high tech brake bleeding machine. Apparently this always fixes it.
You'd think that the MOCO would be able to do this when they installed this expensive option on their bikes, or at least that the dealers who charge you and profit from this option would ensure that it worked correctly when they set up the bikes before sending them out the door. Guess not.
Good luck,
John

Well I was assured that the bike was road tested just before it was loaded up and delivered to my door. And was told if there was anything wrong that the mechanic would have caught it then. Took me a whole second to see that something was wrong, called the dealer and all he said was if there is anything wrong to bring it in and they would look at it.... They had 2 freakin weeks to "see if there was anything wrong with it"... Now they delivered it to me 2 hrs away from their shop, and it's snowing here so it could be a month before I can make the 2 hr ride back to them. This prevents me from riding it around town, and what happens if the brakes fail in the 2 hr ride back to them and I crash it? Guess I need to make a call.......

ABS has NO effect on the feel of your brakes until activated. The fact that your dealer said the sponginess is "normal for an ABS system" proves he's either an idiot or thinks you are. The sponginess is not normal. Take your bike back and tell them to fix it. Also, as suggested, feel the brakes on the other bikes while you're there and see if any of them feel like yours.

Your dealer is absolutely WRONG! Sponginess is not normal, ABS or not. I would call and speak to the general manager and INSIST they come pick up the bike and fix the problem, or send a mechanic to fix it at my house. It irritates me to hear that the salesman, or worse yet the service manager tried to convince you that this is a normal condition. Morons at best, liars at worst.
