Default 06 Ultra CB squeals

I have an 06 Ultra and just bought a hand held mic so I could talk with my mom and stepfather who have Goldwing trikes. I can hear them just fine but when I try to talk it squeals bad. Horrible feedback squealing. So far I have performed the following to try and find the cause:

1. Checked all possible connections.
2. Tried different antennas
3. Tried a new mic (2 different mics - same issue)
4. If I press the push to talk on the handlebar, it I can hear squelch break on the other bikes and a hand held CB and its clear. Of course I can't talk until until I press the mic button, and the squeals starts again.
5. I put the mic in the passenger hookup, press the handlebar PPT, hear squelch break on the other bikes and hand held CB, all good so far, then press the PPT on the microphone with it in the rear hook-up, loud feedback.
6. Rear pod PPT is clear until a mic is keyed and then the squeal again.

I don't know what else to try. Any other help would be greatly appreciated.

Tried again today using a helmet headset and same issue. Feedback! Any ideas, or has my CB gone south?

This was a problem on '06 models. Several people had their CB replaced under warranty. I've never used mine so I hope it doesn't squeal.

I had that same problem when I bought my 06. If I used my buddys mike it worked fine. Mine did not, but worked in his. So we swapped mikes and that was the end of it. Later on I bought another HD mike and it worked fine too. Try another mike if you can.

I had a friend of mine with the same problem. He tried my 2 mikes and didn't help. He took it into the dealer and they did something to fix it. Not sure what though. I had forgoten about that one.

Great, now for the fun part. Having to deal with the dealership for warranty work. Was there a service bulletin about it anybody know of? Sure would be easier if I had a that technical bulletin number in hand. Made getting my engine mount replaced a whole lot easier when I found it all cracked up.

Have you ever done an up grade on your radio?

It sounds like feed back. Are you using a mp3 player; external type. I also suggest checking for an update on the radio/cb. I am not familiar with the 06 set ups. This most likely has little or nothing do with with the SWR. Are you using an amp for the radio?

Nope, no amp on radio. Only thing upgraded was radio firmware/software about a year ago. I think the current firmware offered is still the one from then.
