Default Handlebar mod almost complete, need help!

Well, I'm almost done with my handlebar swap. I've changed to Cyclesmith's 14" apes with internal wiring. I've managed to get all the wiring done, bars reinstalled, and clutch cable installed. Before I tackle the brake line, I need a little feedback. My 08 RK doesn't have ABS and I assumed that I could simply replace the stock upper brake line with the braided line, but I'm a little concerned with removing the existing line. How do you remove the line from where it intersects the joint where the two lines break off for the dual disk brake? I've never done this before and I'm having trouble finding anything in the manual regarding these lines. I'm hoping to not replace the entire low line assebly (out of funds), so I could just get this upper line replaced I would be good to go.

Please help!

Unless you are an experienced mech and know how to cut and flare lines I recommend going to Hill country custom cycles in spicewood Texas and buying the steel braided set for 95 bucks with free shipping. They are Russels package by Edlebrock and are easy to install.

Default Solution

Well, now the more that I look at this, I probably should just do the lower lines and be done with it, plus it will complete the braided line look, rather than starting braided then ending with stock lines.

Thanks for your help.

I'm in the final stages of replacing my stock bars with Wild One 575's. Gotta love the quality of these bars and heavy duty. Ordered my clutch cable (+4") and brake line (+2") from Magnum Shielding in Pittsford, NY(link below). I wanted something different than the stainless/chrome lines so I ordered the black pearl version. looks great with the OE throttle and idler cables (black vinyl) but I'll probably also replace those this summer. This is the company that makes the SE cables and lines for Harley Davidson.

I would think that your brake line is the same as a SG. It comes as a one piece line, you will have to replace the whole line with a two piece line unless you cut and flare it somewhere.

It is a one piece so you have to replace the whole thing with a 3 piece set, 2 lowers (1 per caliper) and the upper.
