They also add things into the sale and tell you it's standard practice, like a battery tender for $50 when you can get one off the shelf there for $30. Imagine that, how hard up can they be? And if you have anything swapped out before delivery, pegs for forwards, grip, mirrors, ect., they do not return your removed parts, they sell them at flea markets and reuse them when they can.

Feel free to let the rest of us know who to avoid. Times are hard, good time to weed out the bad apples.
So knowing all this...please tell us this NOT where you bought your bike.

Ive heard nothing good about hot metal. I baught mine at Steel City HD in washington, PA only becuase they were the only dealer selling at MSRP with no added charges. But they give you 10% off anything the day you buy the bike. Then if you go to the washington chapter HOG meets you get 10% off. I wont go back to steel city for anything though. I had to really hassle them to give me 10% off a back rest 3 days after i baught my bike. And ive had nothing but trouble dealing with their service dept. I seem to have a little better luck at Cerini's in Belle Vernon at the interesection of RT 51 and I 70. And I have also heard good things about Neidengards over in Ohio. All my parts now though get ordered from chicago harley. They are the best IMO!

I'd have done my bitching at the dealership where it would have meant something.
Either you haven't been around or you been around the wrong dealers. The battery tender is written into every deal they do, you can refuse it but you know as well as I do most people are so happy to be getting a new scoot they let it slide. As far as take off parts, kind of hard to take them when you pick up a bike, go back in a while and they are gone. And trust me, that dealer has heard plenty from me.

The '08 Ultra I bought at Neidengard's in Ohio, the '08 Super Glide Custom I did buy at Hot Metal, they are 10 minutes from my home. As far as take off parts, the only reason I had them do some swaps was if the parts are on it when you take delivery they are covered by the 2 yr. warranty. It's all good though....there are 5 other HD dealers within an hours ride.

I've been around the wrong dealers? That's funny!

I got my battery tender connector free from my dealer when I purchased my bike and always get my take-off parts without asking on the rare occasions when I don't do the work myself. I'm also not the one on here whining about MY dealer because I actually got a great deal from them and they've always treated me right. If you want to know who's been dealing with the wrong outfit, find yourself a mirror.

dealt w/ them when I bought my 08 streetglide, good deal with $1500 in store credit to use as an incentive, took my metric in on trade for a fair price, did try to charge me for the battery tender told them to take it off I already have one they didn't charge me, they did want $150 to trailer home for me (it was december) told them I'll be back in the spring when i can ride it home they deliveried for free. It wasn't a tiresome deal back and forth pretty straightforward and They did this site unseen on my trade only pics. Lots of pics. With the understanding if the bike wasn't as described and portrayed in the pics the harley wouldn't be unloaded. Excitied about the deal and the fact it was my first harley forgot to ask about the take offs, thought about it the next day and called, and no problem they set them off to the side for me. Can't comment on the discounts there they are a little to far to have as my dealer for service so that wasn't a concern. But I'm on there mailer and they always have something going on, chili cookoff, christmas halloween parties all with a nice spread. Wished I did live closer they seem like an active dealer.

You are proving my point, or don't you even realize it? About the wrong dealers, you did say you never heard of 20% off correct? Funny how all the dealers here do it but you have no knowledge of it. And i'm not whining, i'm informing. So your experiences have been different, so what, doesn't change a damn thing here. If all you have to do is complain about post you have to much time on your hands. Maybe you head is up some dealers azz a bit to far?

And there you have it, Bruce. The moral of this story is if you don't take care of your own interests, no one else is going to.

I'm happy with my current dealer, but most of them try to pull one thing or another. My dealer told me that the first service was "included with the sale." When I went to sign the paperwork on the bike, I discovered that what they meant by "included" was that they were adding $300+ to the purchase price of the bike to cover the first service. I told them I did my own service and had them remove it.

Are you suggesting that I drive 4 1/2 frigging hours one way to buy my next bike so I can possibly get 20% parts for a year? If not, your "point" is not only stupid, but irrelevant.

For the third and last time, there are NO dealerships in Northeastern PA that offer 20% to their customers. If you still don't "get it," you need to pull your head out of your own "azz" as you put it.

Oh and it sure as hell sounds like crybabying to me. Problem is, crying on here doesn't do a damn bit of good. You should have grown a set of ***** and confronted your dealer instead of flexing your Internet muscles now. It's painful to watch.

Everytime I have had anything put on at a dealer I tell them up front I want the old parts back. When I go to pick up the bike they never have the old parts for me. I always sit there and wait until they find them all for me.
