You definitely have to let us know how this pans out...

Out of curiosity - what dealer did you get it from??

I'd be really surprised if they covered it under warrenty. Keep us informed.

I couldn't find any pricing short of calling a dealer, goodluck
I think I'm gonna do the 1/4 inch bolt threw atleast one of the pins myself.
I never did trust that setup.

If it isn't warrantied then maybe your insurance will cover it somehow.

I have a 09 Ultra with only 1600 miles yet I noticed the other day the business end of the metal pins had been bent upward and they had only been off the bike a couple of times. This is a weak spot on the pins because if the little sliver of metal at the end can bend that easily, it can also break off just as easily. I'm with some of these other guys, I think I'm going to put bolts in mine.

I'd hate to have to bolt the bags on and lose the quick release convenience.

Maybe time to start a poll and see how many have had a bag fall off.

Is the wire clip that the pin grabs still on the bike?

Good luck to you. Depending on your relationship with your dealer, they may cover it for you.

I don't want to be inconvenienced with out a bag either.

Today's project is to bolt the bags on and relocate the air fitting. I've read here at least a dozen times in the last year and a half of bags that fall off. Its a fact the pins get stressed with their design. One trip to the HD shop for oil and a filter or the wife that packs too much junk in the bag can stress the pins. 1/4" bolts fender washers and nylock nuts.

Man that sucks, I was at the dealer yesterday checking on my new SG and they warned me about people stealing hard bags and selling them on Ebay. Said to always keep them locked, any chance somebody was tring to get it?

I wonder what percentage failure rate that is??

I think I'd go with wingnuts and lock washers. Should stay put and still be fairly quick release.

All it takes is a long screwdriver to clip the spring off the back and gone! takes about 10 seconds a bag.
