Default glue for grips?

Just a quick question if I may...
I'm replacing the grips on my RKC and they came with glue... Do you all use it? One of the guys I work with says he used to use soap to slide the grip on, and when it dries it holds the grip on. Make sense to anyone?
Thanks,
Bill

I've never used glue & never had a problem. I used hairspray on my Dyna once, but I haven't used anything on my RK. Soap would do the trick too.

Depends on the grip. The old style Kury ISO grips needed glue or they would fall off.

These are the Kuryakyn Pilots with Throttle Boss....
I wouldn't worry about it but if I don't like em after I get em on, or I go to replace them at a later date, I'd like to be able to get them back off.

It's not that hard to get the old grip off at a later date even if you use the glue. You can use a little bit of citrus strip, wd-40 or whatever to loosen up the glue a bit. Then you just have to get a good grip on the grip and twist back and forth until it breaks loose.

It can be tedious if you are wanting to reuse the grip. If you don't care about the reuse, you can grab the grip with a pair of channel locks or a pipe wrench and have it broke loose in a second or two.

I recently installed a set of Kuryakyn Iso grips. I didn’t use all the glue as I thought I might change the bars and wanted to be able to break the grip loose to be able to use it again. It didn’t last a day before I could pull it off. I had to call Kuryakyn to get more glue.
