Default Exhaust Clamp Replacements

When you re-install your exhaust system do you:
1. Replace exhaust gaskets?
2. Replace exhaust clamps?
3. Use high temp sealant at exhaust/clamp points?

1. Yes, use two new flange gaskets. HD PN: 65324-83A

Flange tightening process:
Tighten the top nut of the front cylinder head exhaust flange to 9-18 in-lbs.
Tighten the bottom nut to 100-120 in-lbs
Then the top to 100-120 in-lbs.

2. Yes, purchase new H-D Torca clamps: 65283-94 and torque to 45-60 FT. LBS.

3. Shouldn't need it.

Should be able to re-use torca clamps several times, I keep a couple spares in tool box just in case I need them.

I've always replaced gaskets and used high temp copper sealer, no to clamps, just cause that's what I've always done does not make it right. But the new gaskets won't hurt, there are not expensive, and the sealer won't hurt anything either and the manufacturer of my bikes pipes(Rinehart) recommended both on initial install, so anytime they came off I followed the original procedure.

You can git by resuing yer exaust gaskets a few times if you don't tear them up. Use some antiseze on the threads of yer clamps. make sure you torque everything to factory specifications on all exaust bolts if you can find them in the manual.

Service manual says to replace exhaust clamps every time you take mufflers off. Is it necesaary...who knows. Was told the reason is because it doesn't hold torque after loosen. Sounds like some BS to me.
