I keep the stock items I take off my bike so I can put them back on if I sell it in the future. Other than that, I only buy the items I actually need for now. I do keep stocks of oil, filters, "o" rings etc., just normal service items, but thats it.

I can certainly understand where you're coming from though. I see some great deals on EBay and other sites and I am sorely tempted. Ultimately though, I would rather pay off my bike sooner with the money I might spend on unnecessary extras.

I stock oil filters, have a few saddle bag latch springs and a spare clutch cable.
I also have 3 sets of mufflers ....stock,Ovals and SE's.Keeping the stock exhaust just incase the smog ****'s bust me.
Tried selling the Ovals and SE's but no takers.
Oh and I have 3 pair of extra speakers.

It's called "hoarding", and it's a problem. Seek therapy. Your friends won't tell you, but I will. Saw it on Oprah.

I like having some spare stuff laying around, makes for a quick/easy fix in a pinch if things go wrong.

Interesting question. I used to save everything. I'm not even sure why.

But a couple of months ago we traded Terrie's Dyna in on the 09 Street Glide. I removed the Corbin seat at the dealership and told them I'd bring the stock seat back down. Because they can sell a bike easier with a two up seat than a solo and I could get more for a used Corbin solo than I could a stock seat.

Went up in the attic to the stock of misc. seats and grabbed the one that I thought was a stock Dyna seat and took it back down to the dealership. About the time I got home I got a call telling me the seat that I'd brought them was off of an early model evo Sportster. I thought what the hell.........I haven't had a Sporster in my stable since about 85 or 86....somewhere around then. I loaded the truck with a bunch of stock seats and headed to the dealership......we finally found it.

I went home, got the camera out.........started taking pictures and writing info. down and listed everything on ebay. For the next month I was almost a daily regular at UPS. The money I made is how I paid for all the mods on her new Street Glide. And now we have some space for the newer stuff.
