One of my pet peeves with my '07 Ultra is the areas of exhaust that are not covered by heat shields and reflect yellow/blue in the chrome primary cover and the right side lower chrome timer cover. I removed my heat shields tonight in the process of removing the exhaust system (to access clutch release cover)and was reminded of the blue/yellow cover. I know I can try and remove the blue/yellow color but I was also thinking of painting the exhaust high heat flat black and then reinstalling the chrome heat shields. The only portion of the exhaust that is visible is the engine side and flat black can't look worse than the blue/yellow color. The flat black reflection in the chrome covers would be much preferred to the typical blue/yellow discoloration, wouldn't it?

I want to keep the standard exhaust. Tru duals aren't an option. Has anyone tried this flat black under chrome heat shields idea? Your opinions/observations/suggestions are welcome.

 

a. It's the dumbest idea anyone has ever thought of and no one wants to embarass me...yeah right!

Your pretty **** about that aint ya ? Hell i dont even notice mine ?.. For some reason that just dont seem to be a priority of bad things for me too look at

 

Why not just get the pipes jet coated and reap the benefit of less heat around the pipes.
