Stage 1 but can't go over 100 mph. why?

A couple of folks have mentioned what a friend of mine learned in the same quest for speed - the six speed transmissions in 2008 and prior models have an issue. He ended up topping the bike out in 5th versus 6th. The gearing is a bit different in the 09s. I feel that the 09 is easier to cruise in 6th at 60 MPH and may be easier to hit a buck with. I can't say I've had mine up quite that high in this area. Maybe this spring ...

Thanks folks for all the interesting replies. I do not plan to be running that fast, but I want a little more passing juice just in case. I was using my refference to the 100 mph limit as a way to measure if my bike has an issue. One interesting comment was that the UC has a lot of drag so we need to compare apples to apples. The best suggestion offered to me here I think was to take it to dealer ( I hope ). And next time I get a black bike.

I've had my bone stock 07 Ultra to 110 two up...but I started that pass in 4th gear. If I roll on from 75-80 mph in 6th gear it might get to 95 mph. If I drop it to 4th at 55 mph it will get to the high side of 100 in the distance it takes to pass two lumbering RVs. And that last is the reason you need an Ultra to be able to go over 100 mph. Not all the time or even every day, but on a two lane when you need to get around the 40 foot motorhome, you need to do it quickly.
