I have both manuals myself and I'll guarantee you that you'll use them both more than you'll ever realize until you have them. So...GET BOTH! I don't get into the heavy stuff but even someone like me that just "tinkers" would find them handy to have around.

If you're gonna do some work yourself...or if you're just curious about the mechanics of the bike, get it. I paid $60 for mine('08 Touring Models)...have they raised the price that much???

I bought the service manual and the electronics service manual when i placed my first parts order (I found that when I installed the cruise and driving lights on my '07 SG the electrical service manual was called for on a couple of occasions).

I bought all three...expensive, but well worth it. Service Manual is a no-brainer. Electrical Manual helps a lot when doing any electrical mods or chasing wiring problems and diagnosing trouble codes. The Parts Manual...like SOOS sadi above...is indespensible when used in conjunction with the Service Manual to see good exploded diagrams of whatever you are working on at the time. With all three and some basic tools you can accomplish almost anything yourself. Well, the three manuals....and this wonderful forum!

If you're gonna do ANYTHING other than the basic maintenance that's covered in the owner's manual, then you absolutely must have the maintenance manual, and also the parts manual. I always got both for every Harley I've ever owned. And now there's a separate electrical manual, so you might as well get one of those too. If you're planning on modding and/or blinging the bike, the cost of these manuals will be fairly insignificant compared to what you'll spend on the customizing and accessory stuff. These manuals are sometimes available on Ebay at a reduced price.

Good luck and ride safe,

John
