The HD one will fold forward, but not flat on your Ultra seat.

I checked checked out the Mustang web site for a part number. Then when bargin hunting on ebay for one. I bought a new one off ebay and saved about $50 verses my "No-Discount for you (plus sales tax)" ba$tard dealer of mine.

This should be the Smooth (no studs) setup for an '09 - Model: 79610

They say smooth but it still has a design in it.

I couldn't find one on eBay right now but Zanotti will give nice discounts on aftermarket products. Give them a call.

Default Back Rest

I have had the HD on for a few thousand miles and it helps. When I am riding 2-up and the passenger is not "little" it pushed me a bit forward. I know some of you will say "only slim passengers allowed" but I am not Mr. Skinny either. At 6'1" and 300 lbs with three herniated discs in my lower back I do enjoy the backrest and the adjust ability too. For the times I do ride without it I use the "Back-A-Line" support belt. Saw it at a bike show, bought it online and love it. I cannot do the two of them together... pushes way too forward. I am still looking for the ultimate in comfort in long rides. Have not found it yet.

I'm not familiar with the Mustang backrest but I am with both types of Harley backrests. The only way to go if you choose the Harley backrest is with the adjustable one. The fixed one I had on my Road King did push me forward a bit but when I got my Ultra Classic I got the adjustable backrest. It's fully adjustable and I like the thick padding on the Harley backrest. I'm 6'3" and have no issues anymore. One thing I did was get a Screaming Eagle Ultra heated seat. It seems to have more room than the stock seat. When I ride with a passenger the backrest comes off and the stock seat goes back on. Would not ride alone without the backrest.
