Default Hard Saddle Bag Rails

Just wondering if any of you have " Hard Saddle Bag Rails " and if so do you use them to carry extra baggage.
Getting our new Ultra in the next month and will be buying some goodies before it arrives including the luggage rack for the tour pack. Thought about the saddle bag rails, but only want them if the can serve a purpose. Having ridin a EG before on a trip I know it will be a hassel to get into the saddle bags if you have to unstrap something.

I have an 05 Ultra and added them at delivery...good place to attach bungees, look good, and you can strap a few small items on if need be...worth the extra ching in my book.

I had them on my Roadking, and found that they were good for lifting up the lid. Tried them a time or two for strapping on extras, and didn't like it, as it made the saddlebags a real hassle to get in to. If you have a tour pac, what ever you strap on is likely to hit the bottom of the tour pac.

Regards,

Bill

The wife of one of my riding pals knew how to sew pretty well.
She made a set of little, cordura bags that attached to the s/b rails with velcro straps. Looked and worked good.
If you do attach cargo to the rails, be careful that it doesn't rub on the paint.

Thanks guys, I kinda figured they could be useful. as far as rubbing the paint, I have a friend in the sign painting business and he has clear sign film material that I will put on top of the lids. He gave another buddy of mine some to put between the the aft part of the gas tank and front of the seat were they rubbed. It worked well.
