Default How many miles on your laced RKC wheels?

Question is to you guys who have had your Road King Classics awhile and have put a lot of miles on your bike. Was wondering how many trouble free miles you've put on your laced wheels without any problems of flats or broken spokes. I love the look of the spokes and don't mind cleaning them but have a chance to buy a set of black 9 spoke cast wheels at a good price. I've had 20k trouble free miles on mine and really don't want to change. My wife and I take several trips a summer on the bike 2 up.

Default Spokes

I run both the spokes and chrome 9 spokes, local I keep the spokes on, have had 2 blow outs with the spokes, got the 9 spokes for my long rides out of town and keep a plug kit with me. works for me. if they are good price, they are worth having for the long rides.

Only 1,000 miles on mine. But then I have only had the bike a month and 10 days.

I have 12k on mine and love the looks, but just picked up a set of the black 9 spokes on ebay. Going to have them chromed and mounted with the wide white walls next time I need tires just for that safety/flat fix reason. I'd just rather do away with the tubes.

Question

I wonder what would happen if you put those run-flat tires on laced wheels with tubes?

07 RKC that was the main reason why I wanted the bike was the spoke wheels, (classic look) 12k trouble free. I am thinking of going with tubeless aluminum wheels, if a flat happens I can plug it just to get me home. the tube I have the slime stuff but not really sure if it's enough to get me home in the even of a flat.

Default Warning: Spoked wheels can be dangerous!!

I had an '02 Road King with spoked wheels. Ya they look great, but with about 50k on it, I had a rear flat. It turns out that the inside of the rim was completely rotten from rust. The crack is about 8 inches long and almost a quarter inch wide. Curiously, the rim was made in Italy and I don't understand why there was never any mention of the rims condition when tires were changed. I would never buy a bike again with spoked wheels; solid wheel are the way to go. My new bike is an '09 Ultra These wheels should be industructible compared to spoked.
