23000 and nothing wrong with the spokes, yet. Just had a nailin the front two weeks ago. Didn't go thru to inner.

Looks like we have the same handlebars also.

At about 30k miles, my spokes loosened suddenly. My indy buddy tightened and trued. At 62k miles, I put the bike on a lift and checked them right before we left on a trip. They were tight. In less than 200 miles, the spokes started loosening. The bike got sloppy handling. I thought it was because of the heavy winds. It took me a while to figure out the spokes had loosened again. Some had done egged out the hub. Some had broke. I ended up getting trailered home. That was it for me. I have a 1200C wheel out back now.

My rear wheel seems to be out of true. i am taking it to the dealer and have them inspect and tighten the spokes. I am thinking about getting different wheels now...

I just purchased an 09 RKC and went with the Smooth Aluminum Spoked wheels... I guess I am wondering if there is any difference in longevity between these and the steel spoked wheels ??

Hey Will,

I just started a thread asking this question. So far no issues.

I have had to change the front tube out twice on mine, nail first time and cracked valve stem second time.

25000 miles on an 02 without any problems. There is a company out there that say they can turn the spoke wheels tubeless. I can't remember the name of the campany however.

Sealing the wheel ain't gonna help with spokes loosening. The spokes loosen because:

1.) They are cheap.

2.) The Twin Cam puts out more torque than an HD to date, which causes them to stretch.

If you seal the wheel, they you aren't gonna be able to tighten the spokes if you do need to because you will break the seal when you turn the nipple.
