Default Can Street Glide rear shocks be used to lower a 1996 Road King??

Looking to lower my 1996 Road King about 1-1.5" in the rear. I've read numerous replies stating that you can use the rear shocks from a Street Glide but all of these replies have been in reference to newer (1997+) bikes. HD changed the frame a bit starting in the '97 model year.

Anyone have info on this?? I currently have a lowering bracket kit on the '96 and it's okay but I'd like to see if the Street Glide take-offs will do what I want.

Thanks,
BK

Default lowering 96 Road King

FastHarley, I'm thinking they should work but the "why not" comes from the redesign of the frame in 1997 and the differences in the lowering block kits that are made for the Road Kings. Checking Ebay and the parts catalogues and I'm seeing lowering kits that will work on a '93-01 touring bike but then another part # for the '02-present touring suspension. Makes me wonder if with the frame design there also wasn't a change in shock mount location also.
