Default What about buying a brand new saddlebag? from the dealer?

Told a friend that I needed a right side hard bag for my road king. He told me his son bought a pair of hard bags from dealer. He gave them the vin number and they sent him a pair painted and matching the rest of the bike. Cost about a grand, but would be nice to get matching stuff.
He said even the key matched, but you had to pony up extra $ for the reflector.

Is this true? Can you get new ones painted to match from the dealer?

(this is for a right side bag that fell off the bike and got totaled)

Yes you can order a color matched saddle bag from the dealer. I had to replace the bottom half of my tour pack due to tears at the hinges and one corner being caved in. Took about three weeks to get it in. Because I have a 100th anniversary model I actually had to take the bike to the dealer and show it to them or they wouldn't sell a new bottom to me. I have the 100th special paint job with the gold pin stripe. Cost about 1K but it was worth it.

If its not a special edition like an anniversary bike you would be surprised at how many bags are out there on e bay and other sources, also if I recall when you order the bag all parts are ordered seperatly.

I too have a 100th anniversary bike cant even get the damn sterling silver touch up paint or the stripes!!!

1000 bucks for a fiberglass box? I am sorry but this is nuts. You can buy a fiberglass boat with a trailer and motor and all the other stuff for ten grand. I am going to try to see how hard it would be to make molds and start a business making this stuff. 1000 bucks is just plain crazy.

But it's HARLEY DAVIDSON!! (And, likely one of the few things not imported from Taiwan or China too!)

To answer the original question, yes, you can order a complete color-matched saddlebag from HD. All of the bodyparts are available color-matched as replacement parts, typically for repairs due to crashes.

Or you can but 10 saddle bags and zip strip them together and get a paddle at walmart for an extra $10.

E-bay is where to look. I bought a nice set (had to paint, wrong color) with all the hardware, which a lot of them try to sell separate, for $400. There are usually hundreds of hard bags listed. Good luck.

Just ordered one for my bike, had it stolen last summer. I went through zannotti motor they were the best price I paid $430.00 for vivid black I am sure other colors may be a little more comes with everything but the lock I belive that was like $30.00 with key matched to my key#. let me know if you need more info, as I have been looking for the past 4 months and this was the best deal i could find.
