actually, I'd probably go for a new saddle bag, my argument to the insurance adjuster would be with trying to match the paint and fix the hinges so the lid seals could take several treatments, visits, adding more to the costs to repair.

Unless of course, the dealer is feeding him this garbage so they can get all the work on his scoot?

Wonder if the dealer told him all his service maintenance had to be done by an authorized dealer, too?

Or, he had to use a dealership authorized painter?

Doesn't matter, sounds to me like the original poster is being fed a buncha crap. He may need to read up on warranty laws.

Also, before heading off and ordering paint or other parts...maybe he should consider coming to this forum and getting info, FIRST?
LOTS of wrenches on this forum with valuable info, for the most part.
Hell, he could have gotten his paint code right here on this forum.

I'm pretty sure the "void the warranty" part was sarcasm.
Never dropped the leather bags on my Road King Classic whenever I washed the bike but now that I have the hard bags on the Ultra I think abut it every time I take them off!

Think the voided warranty comment was a joke. Stupid, old, and no where remotely funny anymore but still overused old joke like the clown asking for a new bag because of a scratch. Wait, That was funny.

I think that if harley wanted void a warranty on paint, it wound just say you idn't take care of it properly. Sounds highly unlikely.

Sorry to hear your pain, I see you have an 09 so I know you want it fixed right but your paint has not faded so it should be easy to match. The HD paint is very pricey and you have to get a quart and the stablizer, and I don't think you have to fr. a PPG paint store since I just got sm touch up jar but it was $15 for the Fire Red Pearl. I think we should start some sort of HD paint sale for all the unused 1/2 quart leftover paint that has to be out there.

I'm with Rodeo. Thought about trying the slim look and removing my rails, but protection and the wife said no to that!

I've tipped a bag over before after pulling it off the bike for cleaning and inspection, but it fell rearward and just stayed there.
I guess you can either get the bag fixed or just trike your bike out, then you don't need EITHER of them anymore!
Hey FLTR2008TRIKE, no offense meant at all, sir. I'm gonna end up on a trike eventually myself, and yours is one fine scoot!

Even though I have saddlebag rails I wash the bags first and set them aside.
I put clear pads (WalMart/Home Depot about $2) on each corner to protect the bags.
They are about 1 1/4 by 1/8 of an inch and really do the trick.
It comes in handy if you have to take your bags off on the road.
