I have a detachable rear rack that I lay the bag on. Since the '08 has the metal brace on top of the fender you could probably get away with just using that and maybe a little clear protective film on the fender if you didn't want to buy a rack.

I think TwinRider has it right. I have the Chopped Tour-Pak on my Road Glide and although it doesn't look TOO bad, the King would have been a smarter move for the additional space. And no matter how you try to spin it, by the time I add a duffle on the luggage rack for the camping gear it looks pretty goofy. But I do like the smaller backrest on the Chopped vs the King (although my wife might argue otherwise). The detachable brackets are nice so that I can take it off when not touring.

If you want secure storage, and will be running solo for the trip may I suggest you check out the detachable solo mount, it uses the mounting hardware from the sissy bar, and looks a heck of a lot better then the two up mount IMHO. But you will have to purchase a solo seat to go with it. Oh yeah, it makes a great backrest for the long trips as well. Check out my sig.

That looks like a great solution as well for a dedicated solo rider. Much better for handling to have the box over the passenger seat rather than over the rear wheel.

Just got a luggage rack for my tour pack. I'll be sure to post a pic of me and the wife's snorkeling gear bungeed to the top
