Default How do I bypass the alarm to work on the bike?

I've got on '08 FLHRC with factory installed Security System and dealer installed SmartSiren.

I want to install the HD mod for the rear turn signals to work as brake lights. You know the one with the two red lenses and the in line module.

Instructions say to disconnect the Maxi and the battery terminals. When I pull the Maxi, the siren goes off. Quite the effect in the garage! I had the key and fob in the fork lock at the time.

How can I keep the alarm from going off while I install this simple little mod?

I asked the question in the right forum, but it's a little light on traffic and I've got the bag, seat, and left cover off already.

Thanks!!!

Every procedure in the manual tells you to remove the fuse.

There isn't any power going through that circuit with the ignition off. Just do it with out pulling the fuse. It will be fine. I did.

With the key fob near the bike turn the ignition on then pull the maxi fuse.

This is a good question, I'm about to install this on my bike.

The spec says it has a built in power supply,

Featuring a built in back-up power supply, the siren and transmitter functions will continue to operate even if the wires are cut or the vehicle battery is disconnected.

+1, on skipping pulling the fuse...Just make certain ign is off, then install light converter.

I installed it on both my scoots with no problem-I ain't never pulled the maxi fuse yet for many installs.

That's the trick indeed. Thanks Lonewolf176 & SA315B!

Ignition on, pull the Maxi and no alarm. Did the mod, put the Maxi back in, turned off the ignition and everything's fine.

Turn key ON, then turn OFF, then pull maxi-fuse within 8-seconds.

Yep, last post has it best. Turn the ignition ON, then turn it off and pull the fuse BEFORE the alarms arms itself(before the bike chirps )
I never like pulling fuses with power running through them
