Q Hog, check this site http://motorcycletunes.com/default.asp Lots of goodies in there along with some speaker choices as well. You'll also notice most of the stereo units are a nice marine white to match that good looking sled you have there.

I have been looking at fairings and considering what to put in it. Have come to the conclusion that a cd player would be useless. 1) due to the vibration and 2) since they invented mp3 players I have bought one cd and burned maybe six. Never play em anymore, but my iPod gets recharged every night. I usually have it plugged in my ears while I am riding or any time I'm not slugging in front of the idiot box.

What I have found is that Clarion and Blaupunkt both make a car stereo with no cd player. All they have is an SD card port for mp3's and an aux input if you want to plug in an mp3 player. They are reasonbly priced (120 and 150 at Crutchfield) so if they do get wet or something, who cares, order another. Plus with the SD card I don't have to worry about destroying my iPod touch in a rain storm or something.

Let us know how you like the Quadzilla and what you put in it.

One other thing, Dragonfly makes a fairing with 6"x9" spkrs.

EDIT: DOH! Nevermind, I missed that you already had a fairing.

Go to an auto stereo shop, or even a Walmart, check them all out and bring your riding gloves. Like stated previously they kinda all sound good but you want to be able to use the controls while riding with gloves ( if you wear gloves) I bought a Blaupunkt and I'm pleased with it. I also bought component speakers with crossovers, I think they sound better, but this is just my $.02

I am also going to upgrade the Eclipse stereo that came in my Quadzilla fairing. I think I am going to go with this one: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500IDAX...Alpine&tp=5684

No CD, big control ****, and a solid ipod interface.

I run a sony marine cd unit that can play mp3 format songs. So on a standard cd 700MB I get roughly 10hours of music. Set it on random and all you need to touch is the volume now and again.

Another real nice feature to look for in a head unit is a built in crossover. If only the deck is powering the speakers then you can set the frequencies to allow cranking the stereo without worry of distorting the speakers due to lack of power for the bass. And those real low tones that really require a 10-12" speaker will not try to recreated on your 4, 51/4, 6 1/2, or 6x9 speaker. Distortion of speakers is a pet peeve of mine. Sounds like crap.
