Can Polk Audio MOMO MMC525 speakers be used with pre-2006 touring bikes? I got these as part of a deal and can't use them with my 2009 Street Glide. The specs say 4ohm. Do they have to be used with an amp? Just want to pass them on to a friend, but not screw up his bike if they don't work.

Im not sure with the momo mmc525, im in the process of putting in the new mobile monitors with the crossovers. There should be 2 wires on one side and 4 on the other. The side with two will connect with the stock speaker wire and the 4 wire side will connect to the speaker. the speaker should a co-ax speaker (tweeter sitting in side the actual driver). If you have anymore questions let me know cause my good friend is a regional manager for polk.

 

pre 06 radiosound radios are 8 ohm units so the polks will work but may overheat the unit in time

 

You can always use a resistor to increase the ohms. Radio Shack sells it cheap.

 

if you run an amp then as long as it is a 4 ohm amp there arent any issues. i used these speakers for about a month but they didnt last with the power i was pushing. they are marginally better than stock.

 

Best thing todo is run an amp, the radio will eventually give out. Pm me and I can discuss it further with you.
