Good for you.

The wife and I will be trying 3200 miles to Sturgis and back this summer. Going out from NYS via RT-90. Coming back along the Oregon Trail (RT-20 through Nebraska). Can't wait.

The sad thing is the only negative I can say about the trip was several HD dealerships.

On one occasion, I thought the air in my rear shocks were low so I stopped at a dealership to ask if someone could check it for me or let me use an air gauge (I now own the Harley air pump), the lady in the service department told me all mechanics were busy and they might get to it in about 1 hour. I then told her that I needed to be somewhere and asked where the next dealership was, she then said hold on and she would see what she could do. It cost me $15.00 for someone to check the air in my shocks and tires to find they were fine.

Another time it was about to rain so I pulled into another HD dealership and asked if they would let me park my bike in the service department to wait out the down pour. I was told absolutely not. While I was there, another rider had a back rest installed and when they finished, they pulled it out into the rain. Man was he mad..

This brings me to a point. When I bought my Road King Classic, I thought I was buying into the royal order of brotherhood. It seems like over the years the dealerships have forgotten about the guys that saved and saved for something they had always dreamed about and now focused on the doctors, lawyers, or anyone with lots of money.

I am not basing my opinion on these two dealerships. Can anyone relate to this or is this just me?

Here was my riding schedule: 1-3 hours no problem - 3-7 hours, my butt started hurting and got hot. I then started looking forward to my stops. 7-12 hours, my butt quit hurting and I thought I could ride all night. I was just fatigue. This happened almost every day. Now by the fifth day, I was saddle sore.

This forum ought to be required reading for all dealers. I wonder how many managers realize that their staff is undoing a reputation that took HD over a century to build.
