Default 1000 Mile Service

just curious what the going rate for the 1000 mile service is in everybodies area. I've been out shopping today (Good reason to ride the scoot around to the HD dealers).
I've gotten prices ranging from $210.00 - $240.00.

Most dealers want another $40.00 for synthetic fluids in the 3 holes. But my dealer which I purchased my bike from, does the synthetic for no extra charge. Don't know if that's the deal because I bought the bike there or not.

One good thing about going to all the dealers today is I found a nice lightweight breathable jacket with body armory for those summer days when a leather jacket is way too much. Its got a zip in liner for cold weather and was only $240.
Iam a happy camper now[sm=icon_rock.gif]

Why not just do it yourself? Just gotta pay for fluids and filter. Just take a close look at the rest of the bike.

Do it yourself. I have 20,000 miles on my 05 and I have done all of the service myself. My bike will be going in the shop next week for warranty work. My Rocker cover gaske is starting to leak. I am having that replaced. I think it is a waste to pay for the shop to service your bike for routine maintanence. Save your money. I can email you a list of the things that they check when they do the service. I will never take my bike in for routine service. Trust me, you can do everything on the list that I have. I will mail it to you if you want.

Thanks for the replies, so I guess $210 w/synthetic is a good price.
I know I can handle everything that is required for the service, but I have "something" in the neck bearing that I can feel when the front of the bike is loaded (In turns at moderate speeds) and the road is bumpy.
It doesn't just feel right, not unsafe, just not right. Thats why I've decided to have a HD dealer do the service and pull the bearing assembly apart while it's at the shop

Had the 1000 mile service performed earlier this week. $240, dino oil, and a wash.
They sprayed foam in the hubs to quiet the brake squeal as well.

I keep telling myself I'm going to do my own service...

I'm coming up on time for the 5k and realizing I don't have a lot of spare time.

I think I'd rather spend the money, and go riding than save the money and not ride. I don't have the time for both lately.

I'm not too happy about realizing this, so I guess I need to work less [:@]

I just had my 1000 mile service done on my Strret Glide and it cost me about $150 with regular Harley oil.
