150 miles one way, huh?
Beartooth Pass
Chief Joseph Highway
Yellowstone Park
Little Big Horn National Monument (the place where Custer and the boys discovered that there is a huge difference between good recon and bad recon)
Beartooth Mountain Range
Big Horn Mountain Range
Crazy Mountains
Pryor Mountains
Castle Mountains
Big Horn River (premier fly fishing)
and on and on.............
And no need to ride interstate to get to any of it. Yeah, we're a little spoiled, but it's a decent trade off for a 7 month riding season.

My local riding sucks. All flatlands and amish country. Within 150 I can hit Lancaster County, PA for some nice scenic hills. If I head west or south-west there is some nice riding around the Easter Shore of MD. Rock Hall, St. Michaels, Tilghman Island. South I can hit the Ocean City area, Assateague Island and Chincoteague. North-east and I can cover most of South Jersey. Yeah nothing really awe-inspiring in any of it.

Great River Road
Looks like a lot of riders in the western and eastern areas of the country. I'll chime in with a plug for any riding along the Mississippi River from SW WI to Red Wing, MN. Being in La Crosse, I can go north or south and have a great ride. The best part is, you can go on either side of the river for a different experience. The MN side going north lends itself to small river towns and the terrain is relatively flat north of Winona. Cross the river at Red Wing and head south along the WI side....great views of the river! Spring rides lend themselves to eagle watching while fall rides are great to take in the colors along the bluffs. The ride south is great as well, cross at Prairie du Chein or at Dubuque and then head north along the Iowa, MN side and you'll be amazed at the views. No, its not the mountains of the west, or east, but that's what makes it its own. For shorter rides, I head east out of La Crosse through the valleys and farmland...hard to beat it!

The best way to show the good rides within a 150mi. radius of me is to go to Road-Quest.com and take a look. The guy that owns the site rides a lot and rates and maps different routes. He also rates the food along the way. He doesn't ride a Harley but he isn't a snob. Those in NW Washington should check the web site out if you are interested in some nice rides. No I'm not affiliated with the site in any way.
