So, I wonder how much difference this would actually make in total federal taxes for a single person with an income of $36,000/yr? In Boulder, all of the taxes on a new Ultra are about $2000. Any accountants out there are welcome to chime in with their opinions!

Thanks,

John

I am no accountant so please correct me if I am wrong. But back in the day, (20 yrs ago) I remember that I looked into my tax stuff and figured that for every $50 in deductions, I got back an extra $6. So that would make $2000 in taxes worth about $240. Less than a dollar a day for the year. Big woopie if my math is right. If it is not, it won't be the first time I ever said something stupid.

Well with this going on and the way things are looking I think I will sit back and see what they do with the new touring frame in 2k10. Maybe just maybe a new FLTRU with a 103 out of the box. Are you listening MoCo?????
I want my TourGlide and I want it NOW!!!!!!!!

BS...

I'm in the military and have always had to pay taxes on new/used vehicles anywhere I have ever been. If you bought your vehicles through Exchange New Car Sales then look at the paperwork from the dealer you picked it up at. Sales taxes and registration has to be there somewhere.\

If not I'd like to know how you got that deal.

For sure. If you are buying a new bike, take advantage of everything you can. But to go buy a bike just because of the tax break... not very smart in my opinion.

They never have and never will.

Ford, GM and Chrysler routinely offer factory rebates, but never Harley. HD instead hopes they can ride free on the taxpayer....I'd like to see 2K off MSRP on the higher tier bikes, and maybe 500 off MSRP on Sportys before I'd let them get in the chow line.
I just bought my Fat Bob for $1500 under MSRP. Close enough?

The fact is a lot of people bitch and whine about Harley and prices, but it's up to the dealer to set the price. When you think about it, why should Harley or the dealers cut prices when times are good and people are willing to buy the product - sometimes at a premium? If you don't like the price, don't buy it.

A minimal tax break to get folks to go 20k+ into debt? isn't debt what got us in trouble?

Maybe they can give HD loans now to folks who can;t afford to pay them too...

My point is the dealer took that loss on your bike, not the factory.

HD has NEVER given a incentive to any dealer. Just ask all the dealers you know and they will tell you that no dealer gets a break on cost from HD-never has-never will. HD will let dealers fold before they help them out.
