I took a little ride to Oshkosh airshow from savannah, ga area... Via Grand Canyon,Zion, 4 corners, Estes park, Tetons,Yellowstone, Glacier, the black hills. One the way home went around the top of Michigan and then over and down the Blue ridge Parkway.... I may do it in reverse ...But of course NEVER travel the same road twice

No offense to those back east but I've ridden the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's a nice ride but pales in comparison to Colorado, Utah, Western Wyoming, South Dakota and Montana. All the rides mentioned before this reply about these areas are spot on. The rides out west are unbelievable. It is time well spent. Those of you who have not been here should ride here at least once in your lifetime. You will never forget it.

I understand the beauty of the Rockies and hope to ride there someday.
But as a Southern boy, there is no scenery more beautiful to me than western NC and east TN. I just feel a connection with that part of the country.
Instead of saying "which is best?" just try to experience as many different places as possible.
I went to Sturgis in '95 and rode the Black Hills, the Badlands, and all around the area. Absolutely incredible, but I wouldn't trade it for the southeast because this is home.

No, I just linked to them from Wikipedia. But those views are common in that part of the country. And they never get old.

To all of you who live on the east coast and south. I've lived there and it's quite beautiful. There is only one thing that makes riding in those places difficult for me and that's the humidity. Add heat to that and it becomes unbearable. I suppose if you live there you get used to it. We have the heat out west but rarely the humidity. The US has so many great places to ride and if possible I'd like to go to as many as I can while I'm breathing. Meanwhile, living in the Denver area I can ride on roads each weekend that others go on vacations to experience. I'm lucky. Ride safe wherever you go and enjoy.
