sounds like you broke the switch in the lever housing

Default Brake Lights

Try this. Make sure your front master cylinder is in contact with the throttle. Completes the circuit. Or, when you made the swap, you broke the switch at the brake lever.

When removing the controls on the late models you need to put something about 1/8" or slightly larger between the brake lever and the housing, we use the head of a zip tie. If you fail to do this you can break the switch as you found out. Hope this helps in the future.

yeah, that darn switch will get ya everytime. I'm suprised they are as cheap as they are at the dealer given how easy they are to mess up.

A new switch is cheap but it is PITA to replace.

I hope Harley redesigns this lever switch. While I haven't broken mine, I have had a really hard time getting Harley accessory levers to pinch the switch enough to make contact. And what's with that little piece of copper that is just shoved in there to press the switch against the housing? I hope the rest of my bike has a little more thought in it than that.
